We rescued this girl from deplorable conditions, although she was being fed and watered, she was all alone on a manure caked floor and pretty exposed to the elements. We kept her in quarantine for four weeks and she is now living happily in a large grassy pen with our two female ducks. Lots if people have said the two species should be seperate but we didn't have much choice. Our hen has her own hutch and happily puts herself to bed at 7:30 each night while I have to shoo the ducks from their pool at dark. The hen has recently laid two eggs, pretty amazing for fourteen years old. Her way of saying thanks I guess :) anyone know what breed she might be??

I should also mention that the three get along very well. The first day hen "Judith" was let out, ducks "Ping and Pong" sat on top of her lol. But since then they have just become family

Judith looks like such a sweet hen. It's a wonderful thing you did, taking her in. She looks very happy with Ping and Pong! Such lovely names too! I'm sure you'll love BYC. So many helpful people. I look forward to reading some of your other posts!

I am 100 percent positive of her age as she belonged to my husbands elderly uncle. She came from a generations of semi wild flock that had free ranged on his farm for decades. She's the last one left, He just couldn't look after her properly any longer. And if you mean her "hocks" well they look a hundred years old.
