Rescued a chicken

Yes, please tell us more. What are you keeping it in, especially at night, to keep it safe from predators? Are you providing it with grit for digestion? Is it laying eggs? Does it crow? Have you named it? Do you plan to get additional chickens to keep it company? Inquiring minds want to know!!! 🤣🤣🤣

I have it for only two days. At night I keep it in the large box that I made with some straw in it. At day time it walks around my back yard. Have no idea how old it is though and also do I need to take it to the vet?

If he/she turns out to be a rooster you can't feed he/she that. A rooster has to be fed either flock raiser or all flock.

Oops, that's right. One bag won't do much harm, but for the long haul, layer feed has too much calcium for a rooster and can damage his kidneys. He sure is a cutie! My guess is he's a roo somebody didn't want so he got dumped in the woods as coyote bait. Sure glad you found him!

He is probably a dumped rooster. Lots of people have too many roosters and instead of giving them away they just dump them. Its sad but its probably better then them being butchered.
