Rescued Broiler needs to lose some weight

Restrict food and make her use her legs. I feed all my birds including layers 22% meatbird feed.
CX seem to carry a stigma and there's a lot of misinformation out there, including right here on this thread.
I have a layer CX that is approaching one year old and lays almost daily. One of my most productive layers. I have hatched several of her eggs and have some incubating now. I raised this bird to butcher and fed twice a day like the rest. End of butcher day I was tired and she got a reprieve. She is throwing some big babies.

Same here - I rescued a lame hen from a friend who rescued her from someone else... She couldn't stand, never mind even move when I brought her home. 24 hrs water only, then greens and water only until she FLEW out of the bathtub a week later! She's long since started laying, and I hatched a bunch of her eggs (bred to a barred rock) alongside a batch of chanteclers. Her babies are almost fully-feathered and twice the size of the still-downy chanteclers, and they're not even 3 weeks old yet! I'm moving them outdoors tonight even though it's going down to 2° tonight - they are just WAY too big for the brooder, and crush the chanteclers and the two young quail when they're in there!
