Hi,
My wife and I had 2 chicks wander into our back yard a week after Easter. We think they were 2 weeks old then and were someone’s unwanted pets sadly... (no one right here has chickens that we know of, and no one was out looking for any either, so thinking they didn’t escape). We decided to give it a shot to keep them but now are worried they’re both roosters, which we’re not allowed to have here.

Would anyone know their gender and maybe breed? First time at this ever and the internet seems so full of conflicting info! Thanks for any help!

(pics are of we think 4 weeks old and both looks so similar we’re thinking their the same gender)

To young to tell their gender but it looks like their breed is tetra tint.
Thank you for the breed name. I looked up pics of them and they look the same as what we’ve got. Sadly doesn’t look like they always live the longest.

About how old is usual for being able to tell gender? Thank you again for your help!

I'd never heard of Tetra Tint before. Googling it, they could be that. But it's not the most common breed, it's more likely that they're White Leghorns. At this age though, they could be any single-combed, clean-legged white breed. You will probably be able to easily tell the gender in a week or two.

Thank you Gallinarium!
