Rescued Duckling... newbie

Pics
You've done a wonderful job of becoming a duck parent! There's a lot to know, huh?
BTW, I feel that humans are the worst of all animal species. DUMPING animals? My dear Aussie cattle dog, Wendell, had been dumped on the street in a small town in Utah, I was passing through. It has been 6-years, and we have never spent a single night apart! He is the smartest dog I have ever met, and so sweet! How could anyone dump such a creature? BTW, Wendell is so handsome, he is a heartbreaker!

I'm worried. The night before last I caught fancy and was carrying her to the bath with speedy following. It was all good til we got to the hall and Liam was there, speedy stopped and I told Liam to move outta the way, well I made a shooing motions and it apparently spooked Liam, he took off and bowled speedy over. Feathers everywhere and speedy squealing, I grab him up while holding fancy squirming because speedy was crying... made it to the bathtub before I dropped fancy, she jumped into the tub <was over flowing> so she was fine, speedy was quiet but peeping. He jumped in the water and seemed fine, but when we went to lay down, he would cry out if fancy nudged him or got to close. I can't figure out if its his legs or wings or what... he seems to be alright but i can tell something hurts him :(

Poor baby, how is Speedy today? @Raenh
he seems alright, I'm still not sure if it was his foot or wing. I'm leaning towards wing but it doesn't look broke when he stretches them. But now I worry about fancy too, night before last she jumped out of my hands <she was wet from bath> and back into the empty tub, I coulda swore she broke her neck cause it twisted under her and made me cry out trying to get her and pick her up again while holding speedy. She seemed alright though too, and then last night we were about to go to bed after bath, speedy and fancy were on the couch I reached over to pick up speedy so I could dry him some more and she like freaked out and went skydiving off the side off the couch... which might have been fine, but she landed on their ramp going up to their house in her back she kinda calmed down after that. And yes, she seems fine still. It's almost as if she forgets until it's bedtime and she's scared of the dark that I can be trusted not to hurt her. I'm feeling like the most horrible duck momma when this stuff happens... with fancy I never know how much of a struggle she's gonna give. She doesn't totally freak out every time I come near now, she'll just move and sit down again most times, but then other times she goes full on freak out even if Speedy's with me.

Your making progress with her though so take that as it is for now. maybe wrapping her in a towel or blankie would help with her not leaping off of things till she is 100% good with you. They can sure get out of our hands fast. Picking one up at a time may work better too since they are slippery when wet. lol

Happy to hear they are not hurt from their mishaps. They are pretty tough lil things, thank goodness.

Y'all have no idea how glad I am to have found this site and have someone to talk to about what happens and doesn't say I told you to take him back or call the game warden... I feel selfish when they say that though... but then I go home and pick up speedy and he snuggles into my neck and yeah...
