Rescued Ducks Needing A Bath!!!

Hi everyone, my new girls are looking and acting close to normal. They are strong enough to fight over bathing water from their water bucket and overall seem much stronger than they were a couple of days ago.:) My other 3 ducks are patiently awaiting their release into their group and Lucy, the one standing on the water bucket, seems to have no problem in letting them know who not to mess with!!!:D You can see how much she's underweight because the bucket of water doesn't even flip over with her standing on it.:( Check out how well balanced she is while standing on it :clapand Lydia is much lighter than her but both are looking better. I'm sure I won't be able to recognize them in a few months after they catch up on their nourishment, just so happy to see them thriving.:yesss:

Looking much better already! Good job :clap

Adorable girls and what a beautiful place you have for all of them. :love
Thank you Miss Lydia!!! Oh how I love your name!!! :D

Now on to business... didn't know if I should post a new thread for my new questions so anyone can chime in if I should, here we go...

Me and my husband decided to bring the other 3 ducks in the garage to get acqainted with Lucy & Lydia. Even though the new girls were in the cage they seemed to hit it off pretty well. Lucy let them all know she wasn't a push over and stood her ground even while in the cage. Her and my previous rescued girl Melody were beak fighting through the cage, yes and that was hilarious!!! Anyways, early this morning my husband wanted to clean the entire cage and garage area with my help of course BUT HE DIDN'T WAIT ON ME and all 5 ducks ran out of the garage!!! Keep in mind, we live on the river!!!:barnie Needless to say I had planned not to speak to him for the next year if something would have happened to Lucy or Lydia! The ducks all ran into the river, thank God the weather is warm today, around 65 this morning. The first thing I noticed was the other ducks fighting with the new ducks but these 2 new ladies stood their ground and fought back...you go girls!!!!:clap Ok back to my point.... the other 3 kept swimming away from the 2 new girls :(. They tried getting close to them but the other 3 kept swimming away and pulling their feathers when they got close.:( Now I was already upset enough for them escaping from the garage but after seeing that and my smaller new girl start shivering, that just broke my heart.:hit:hit:hit Well I'm sure from the look on my face, hubby knew he had better do something really quick because the other ducks left my new girl by the bulkhead and we had to go to work soon. Hubby sprung into action and grabbed the rubber boots I ran and got then he got in the bass boat and dumped all the rain water out so it could move, then made his way over to the bulkhead to try and do something because he knew I would not be going anywhere if my girls weren't out of that water.:rant Finally...with him in the water and me on the bank with a net we were able to net one and then pin the other in a corner to get them out of the water and back into the dry garage!!! Now for some questions....
1. Lydia is very thin, is there a way I can fatten her up quicker? She was really shivering in the water and is missing the most feathers out of the 2.
2. The flock is not too friendly yet, what can I do to encourage bonding to my new girls?
3. I want to build a ramp for the duckies can get into and out of the water easier, can someone tell me how to make one, I can post pics of the area I want to use to use it?
4. Final question... what can I cook tonight to say I'm sorry to hubby, even though I didn't say a word to hurt his feelings BUT the looks I gave him could have been felt like a bat hitting a wall!!!:D

And....sorry so long but this has been a long winded morning and I love this site and all the wonderful help I receive from all you experts! :love THANK YOU!!!

Oh no that’s terrible. Do your 3 other ducks put have a coop they sleep in at night or a certain spot where they always sleep? If the latter I assume the new girls will follow them. I hope this helps.

Hi! We haven't completed a coop as of yet but plan to because all of the duck eggs keep ending up in the river. :barnie So we're planning on building something big enough for the 5 of them and hopefully the girls will lay first thing in the morning before we release them to free range during the day. Atleast we're hoping that will work. I just don't want them fighting while in the coop/house.
