Rescued Ducks Needing A Bath!!!

Just a note of caution about the dog kibble - someone's duck choked to death on a large chunk of kibble. So be sure the kibble is not oversized, and the ducks have constant access to drinking water. Not to worry anyone, but some things really stick in my memory.

There are many brands of dry kibble. My ducks like some brands better than my cats do! I try to find some with ingredients that I actually recognize as food

Thank you all for the much appreciated advise! Been busy these days but the girls seem to be coming along nicely. I am concerned about the older ones feathers. Since we live on the river, I have to make sure she doesn't have wet feathers or any other damage to her feathers. As you can tell from the pics the younger one's (Lucy) feathers look much better and I see water beading from her when wet but I don't see beads on Lydia. They are so ready to go with the other ducks on the river but I'm thinking it's still going to be a while until I know Lydia can float well. Any suggestions? And she does preen herself.

Hey Blessed X44 maybe Lydia just needs a good old fashioned molt, here that usually takes care of wet feather. Hopefully with good TLC and time she'll be looking as good Lucy.

I def wouldn't let them go in the river till you see improvement in Lydias feathers where water is beading and running off.

Merry Christmas!! :hugs
