Rescued stray rooster. Breed?

Mine has a barred tail, but he only has speckles on the back. Isn't that how they are supposed to be. Now I'm all confused

My Delawares have spots all over them right now, they don't have their adult plumage yet so they still look "dirty". This picture is the same bird as my avatar picture, she is getting much more white as she gets older. She is now 10-11 weeks old.
The spotting is much stronger in the cockerels too, but their necks are starting to show the proper pattern for the breed now.

Have you quarentined him? New birds should be quarentined before added to the flock, just incase they have any diseases.

Did not know that. I guess I will have to keep watch. We have nowhere to quarantine him. My son found him by the creek about to be attacked by a dog. We have so many local big and little hobby farms around here, it would be hard to find where it came from.

He has a solid tail though

When I enlarge the pic, I can see smidgens of white feathering in those black tail feathers.
