Rescuing mallard duckling

No power yet day 26 BUT we are seeing action across the river they were using chainsaws cutting up trees that had fallen and took out the pole The set the pole so we are finally getting close.
Progress! That's exciting. Can you get out to get food and supplies, etc.? To OP, sorry to hijack, our Miss Lydia is in WNC and was severely impacted by a very rude and destructive visitor named Helene.

Welcome to BYC.
She has started to fly and I’m wondering what is the best step for her. We were thinking of setting up an outdoor enclosure where she can settle in for the night but during the day, let her roam where she pleases. There is a pond down the road from me and I’ve seen a lot of mallards there so she might end up flying there.

If you have any advice on what I should do, please let me know.
Make sure that the enclosure is predator proof, and this sounds like a viable plan to me.

Aww we’ve been keeping up with the news of Helene over here. It’s devastating. Praying for a speedy recovery and that your friends and family are doing okay @Miss Lydia

Update on little miss. She’s been enjoying the sunny weather and spends most of her time in her pool. This pic is just after she finished rummaging in our compost bins for worms. She’s also managed to fly about 5 metres at shoulder height.
