Hi! I've been keeping chickens for a little over 3 years, after wanting them for decades! I currently have 11 - (1 white Leghorn, 2 Wellsummers, 4 Easter Eggers, 2 Dominiques, and 2 Buff Orpingtons).
The Easter Eggers have been a terrible disappointment on laying frequency - it's seems like they quit for any number of reasons. I'm looking to replace them with a similarly docile breed that lays at least all summer. I've had issues with mean chickens in the past and my current group seem to get along without tearing each other's feathers out, so I'm definitely looking for a non aggressive breed.

Hello and welcome to BYC - thanks for joining us. Sadly, I can't offer any advice since I live in a place where its mutt birds or commercial hybrids on the whole. I'm sure others will be along to help you out.

Best wishes

Welcome! :D I've heard Australorp's are docile and lay well! Mine are only a week old, so I can't give you much insight yet. :( I got them because they're supposed to be docile, though.

Welcome to Backyardchickens.com aka BYC! :frow
We are so glad you joined our flock.
Australorps are a great choice. My EE are still laying great through the summer though.
