I had one a few years back when I first started with my girls. Did not realize how serious it was till it was too late. For me it ended up being gapeworm which is treatable and easy to diagnose.

She did not make it; but she went out in style. She found a part of the cage that I had put her in that was nice and cool, so she was comfortable when she passed. Unfortunately, I'll have to now really monitor the rest of the flock.

So sorry for you lose. The more we experience the more we learn. As I previously mentioned in my last response I lost my first one as well to something similar. To be honest I did not realize she was sick till it was too late. Since I have done my best to educate myself to recognize the early signs of problems. Again so sorry for you lose.

So sorry that you lost her, but she looked like she was dying in the video. Gapeworm is very rare, and I am not certain that was her problem. Heart failure or respiratory failure, and some viruses can cause those symptoms.

Refrigerate her body and take or send it today to your state vet to get a diagnosis. That will set your mind at ease.

You can take in some fresh droppings to a vet to look for gapeworm, or you can treat for it with fenbendazole (SafeGuard Liquid Goat Wormer) 1/4 ml per pound orally for 5 straight days.

I am so sorry to hear! Are you sending her for a necropsy?
