respiratory issues in my 2 year old hen

I have a 2 year old hen who currently almost sounds like a goose because she "honks" as she breathes. She did lay an egg for me today and seems to be eating and drink but I've never heard her sound like that before and it concerns me. Any advice would be helpful.

Sorry about your hen. There are some really knowledgable folks on here that can advise you very well, and will probably soon respond, but they will need to know what other symptoms she may have. As I have found lots of chicken diseases and illnesses have similar sympotms. Let them know what else may be going on with her. Good Luck, and hope everything is okay.

Does she have any other symptoms? (i.e. wet eyes, rattling sounds, lethargic) How long has this been going on? Sometimes a good amount of dust inhaled will make a chicken wheeze for a while.

She doesn't seem to have any other systems other then maybe really loose stools. I can pretty much guarantee it isn't dust this time of year. I'm fighting mud right now as it is our wet season. Up to my ankles in the stuff in some places in the chicken yard. This is a very recent development. When I was out there this afternoon she was just fine and making no noise at all other then her usually clucking that she makes when she is setting on the nest getting ready to lay.

Sounds similar to how my problems began with my chicken and my rooster. All was fine until after a very wet muddy couple of days here. There is no grass in the chicken pen where the new pullets were, but I couldn't move them elsewhere. Keep an eye out for coughing, sneezing, runny noses, or just standing around not moving much. Yellow or green diarreha is another thing to keep an eye out for. If you see any of these symptoms, give an update.
