Well I got home from working all morning and decided to go out and check the chickens. I opened the coop door and laying down in the shavings was Buffy one of my original birds. I got her...a buff orp rooster...and 2 SLWS and 2 GLWS from Cackle Hatchery when I first decided I was going to keep chickens 4-5 years ago. She was by far the friendliest bird....she would hop up into my lap on command. Everytime someone would come see the birds she would be the bird they noticed. I spent many days holding and hand raising her as a chick and many more appreciating her for her personality and eggs as an adult. She was a friend and a pet.....and will be Dearly....dearly...missed.

Rest in peace my fowl friend.....We will never forget you.

Oh, Sam, I'm so sorry! I remember all your original flock. I lost three of mine this year, plus Hawkeye. It's not a great year for me, needless to say, so I know how it feels. She was a beauty.

Sorry for your loss. My favorite hen also died today, a hog pannel fell on her. I cryed my poor girl, so sorry I know how you are feeling. It is just not the same going to the hen yard without Nut-job there to greet me.
