Kate, so so sorry to hear about Nugget. I'm crying with everyone else on here, and I never met him. But he was Legendary!!! So sorry for this huge loss!

I have been busy today and am so sad to hear that our BYC buddy "Nugget" has passed away!!

Reading through some comments on here, I see that many "husbands" know of Nugget's tales. I too
have told my husband some of the Nugget stories that I have read here. I guess now that I have to tell
him that Nugget had now died. aww,, he reminded us so much of our Rose the Rooster ( my avatar)

I imagine that Nugget has been mentioned by more folks on this forum than any other chicken.

I frequently compared my Giant Partridge Cochin Roo to Nugget.

All of my family knows of Nugget from New Mexico, the GIANT Rooster.

This is a loss for all of us.

Well, I have Tanker his son, and the one I am hoping is a hen that is his daughter,, if not I have two sons to try and carry on his legacy. I don't know if it was a sign of mourning, but not one hen laid an egg today.

It was hard to come home with a bag of popcorn and french fries and him not be the first one at the gate. Every Friday at school we sell popcorn, pickles and stuff for fund raisers and the kids always buy a couple of bags of popcorn for my chickens and they save the fries from their burgers at lunch for Nugget. He went to school one time this year and would have been back next week. I just couldn't tell the kids yet.
