We lost one to a hawk this year also. Now mine are all in covered moveable runs. Sorry you had to lose a precious one also.

SOOO sorry for your loss. We too have threats from hawks. Don't beat yourself up about it, please. You obviously had given her a wonderful life, short as it was.

And don't hate the hawk. He/she was only doing what nature intended. I know that's hard to accept just minutes or hours after losing your friend, but these things happen. Try to remember all of the good times spent with Peppi. I'm sure she'd want it that way.

Thankyou so much everyone. I'm so glad you all are here for me. One of the greatest memories I can remember of her was when Peppi won the cutest chick contest here on BYC.

That makes me a little happier to remember her for how she live rather than how she passed away.

I can't believe I didn't see this sooner. Man this has been such a tough Spring and Summer for our chickens! I hope you haven't lost any others since that attack.
