Restart?

One thing I found disappointing when I started harvesting layer breeds for food is that there's always way more stock/broth than meat harvested from a bird.

I'm not a huge soup eater, and I don't do enough cooking to be glad for having stock on hand(did you know that packaged chicken broth rarely has any chicken in it all?!)...but...if you really cook down the bones, I pressure cook and end up with a thick gelatinous stock, and it's amazingly satisfying nutritionally when just thickened as a gravy over a pile of veggies and noodles or rice. It's packed full of much the same nutrients as the meat is, maybe more, so the body is satisfied even if the mouth and eyes are not(no meat to chew). There's a reason why 'chicken soup' heals everything that ails ya!

I have learned to change my perception of eating meat and using all of an animal....instead of just running to the store and getting the things they present to us as 'food'.

Its crazy how much things have changed in this world!I can't believe that I've never heard of packaged chicken broth rarely not having chicken in it!We have watched quite a few documentaries on the meat business so yes! we would like to raise our meat.

I will sometimes use the same package of broth from the freezer 2 or 3 times. I will thaw a bag of broth, use it to cook my veggies or chicken, then... if I'm not planning to make a soup that week, back to the freezer it goes. Until the next time I need to cook some veggies/chicken. Rinse and repeat. By the time I am ready to make soup or cook an other recipe that requires chicken broth, it is super flavorful!
