Restaurant refuses to serve pregnant woman glass of wine...Thoughts?

that's the beauty of how capitalism should work! Some people like that kind of stuff. Some people don't. If you stop going to an establishment, they have to try to figure out what's not working about their place of business. I personally like that no nonsense attitude in a business, so I would go to a place like that.
Idk I just think people need to realize that the best way to hurt a business you don't like is to not go. If this woman was so offended she should just not go back. Plain and simple. I applaud the restaurant not because I care for their cause, but because restaurants are finally growing some and standing up for THEIR rights too, instead of bending over backwards for the whiny intitled babies we've all become

Pagan, a little red wine being good is crap medicine. Do some research. There are other ways to get the benefits in red wine without destroying the brain cells of your fetus.

My mom drank and smoked, she was 15, I do not have diminished intelligence. I smoked and had a few glasses of beer(DR.orders) during pregnancy...my 29 yro DH does not drink or smoke, she is also very intelligent.

I don't want to change your opinion, but you need to understand that there are those of us that do not agree with your position. Please except this and get off the high horse.

No need to be snarky... you believe as you wish and I wil also, that is what makes the US a great place.

But it is to bad there are so many that will flip flop depending on their moral stance.....just saying...

Drinking occasionally, or even regularly does not an alcoholic or addict make. It is not being able to control and decide to drink or not to drink (or take drugs or smoke or whatever) that determines alcoholism or addiction. In both cases there are associated physical manifestations and genetic predisposition.

That said, I personally agree that a pregnant woman should not drink. When I was pregnant with my first, that doctor told me that an occasional drink was ocay; nevertheless, I almost completely abstained. With my second, seven years later, I was told that there was no way to determine the amount of alcohol that could safely be consumed--that a single drink could cause it, or that many might not--that it could be considered a huge risk. And I abstained totally.

But these are not really arguments dealing with the specific topic, which is whether a restaurant can selectively choose to provide a service to some and not others. What if the restaurant refused to serve red foods or beverages to people who were not wearing dark colours? Or refused to serve milk products to men? Or ...

Look at my earlier post--how can they KNOW that the woman is pregnant?
