Awesome! I learned something today as well!
Yeah, I've seen quite a few barrels for sale. After contacting the posters they eventually say that they were used for car wash soap. I have found a source for food grade HDPE barrels that previously had olives in them. I may still go with a huge cooler though. It might be more useful throughout the year.
I'll try a to do both ways on similar birds and see if there is a difference. Yay! Experiments!

On a side note, I think it would be neat to use vacuum bags to store chickens in, but put marinade in them so that it's already taken care of when you pull them out for grilling.
