I personally don’t rest my eggs at all but always get a good hatch 🐣 I don’t actually know why your supposed to rest them can anyone tell me why you should and if it’s absolutely vital that you do ? Many thanks 😊

I don't rest my quail eggs either...they go straight into the incubator.

How often do you turn your eggs?

Many believe that it improves the hatchability to allow shipped eggs to rest before setting them. I have followed all of the recommendations for shipped eggs, resting them, not turning them for x number of days and also putting them in the incubator (as soon as they are warmed up) and starting the turner immediately. I found no improvement in hatchability from any of the methods other than gaining a few more hatches by starting incubation right away. I attribute these few gains to eggs that may have already started incubation because of possibly being kept too warm during shipment.

As far as I can tell, bigger eggs are more susceptible to shipping damage than are smaller eggs like quail eggs.

Kiki is not the only one that sets her eggs right away.
