Resting Shipped eggs?

I really don't know if it's wise to let the eggs "rest" or not. Some people swear by it, and others don't. I was told by someone who does a lot of successful hatching, that letting the eggs "rest" just results in old eggs. If the air cell is detached, it will likely stay detached no matter what you do. So I always set mine as soon as I get them. I've had great luck and bad luck with shipped eggs. I think the most important thing is how they're packed and how they're handled during shipment. There are variables in shipped eggs that are totally out of the control of the seller and buyer. It's a gamble either way. However, my worst hatch so far was with some eggs I picked up in person at a farm about 10 minutes away - none of them hatched.

the air cells in these eggs looked pretty good not like eggs from my own birds but they were pretty much still round and on the fat end of the egg,so that's a good start.

well its day 21 I candeled 3 days ago and I had 7 good ones i only turned days 4 thru 7 and kept the humity at or above 50% in another bator I have shipped eggs that I kept the turner on after day 4 and didnt worrie about humity and guess what? Only 1 egg is developing all the rest quit from about day 8 or so. that tells me that my high humity and turn only day 4 thru 8 is the ticket...although they havent hatched yet.

Hehehe, my first time hatching shipped eggs I didn't know about resting them. I put them straight under a broody and consider myself very very lucky that I got 7 healthy chicks out of 15 eggs!

putting them under a broody is probably the way to go,I have a hen that goes broody for a few days but wont stick with it...oh my math was off because today is actually day 21 and got two pipped so far
