The OP is new and may not realize it - but the words used to describe what some Hispanics may or may not do with chickens are forbidden words on BYC and may cause this thread to be locked.
We need to stay on topic and not drag in any sensitive subjects.

I don't know if you would be willing to do this, but I think it would be wonderful if someone like you who had experience in this, would write a guide to make as a "sticky", in every place to research to make SURE you are not covered by restrictions.
I have read more than one person on this board who said they looked everywhere they knew to look, and later found out they were illegal.
One of these days I hope we're going to move to a place where we can have chickens, but I don't know every single place to look, to check out whether the places we will be considering. It would be a great public service.
Yay! GREAT job on the video Michelle, and John did a great article too. I will certainly email the MUD, and see if I can't recruit some others as well.

At the Tax appraisal office you can ask the subdivision name and plat vol/page of any given street address as well as who owns the property and how to contact said person
You can use the film at the county clerks office/ at the courthouse (some areonline) and their machines free to look em up. The subdivision plat has the deed restrictions volume/page on the first page.
I liked Kelso's article. He made the MUD look silly, and the fact that they wouldn't talk to him is telling. As for home values, Mayfeild Park has peacocks, and I sure couldn't afford a home in that neighborhood, and I bet your MUD directors couldn't either. I don't think poultry diminishes home values, I think lack of care for your home diminishes value. I've had two homes sold on my cul-de-sac since I've had chickens, and one sold in 11 days less than 6 months ago. Maybe if I hadn't had chickens it would have been 8 days.
