Hello.

My flock has Infectious Bronchitis, I finally got the call from the pathologist today and it's confirmed. I had 5 chickens who died, the chickens who made it through are now starting to show improvement.

I'm not sure what to do now though? Should flocks with Infectious Bronchitis be culled? How long until it is safe to introduce new birds. I have Marans in the brooder and a hen with wheaten Ameraucana chicks that have been separated and not exposed to the flock. Is it safe to have them around the flock eventually? I also have meaties coming in a few weeks.... not sure what to do about them.

There is tons of info about Infectious Bronchitis but not much about what to do after your chickens have been sick. I'm just not sure where to go from here.

Thanks,
Angie

This is a good article on it: http://www.shagbarkbantams.com/ib.htm

Any survivors are carriers so others exposed to them will contract the virus. It affects kidneys and the reproductive tract so egg quality and production are compromised. Read through the entire article and you may have a better idea on what you want to do from here.
