I LIkE that idea! Of course, I can't have a horse of my own, as it's clear in the Ordinances a horse is not allowed on less than an acre... (I still announce "Giddyup!" to the flock when I open the people door to enter the coop on weekend days.) But a nice, long hitching post in front of the porch...Hmmmmmm. With a row of chickens perched there. I do so like that image!That neighbor has nothing better to do!
Yes if you can, enclosed that porch so they don't get to perch into the living quarters. Maybe make a hitching posts out for them, all lining up on the front porch area but not so close. Maybe one day, you will get a rider and horse and the hitching post would be ideal for any horse to be tied up! With all those chickens lining up on the post, you can be sure they are watch dogs!
