~ Retired and Starting My Future In The Foothills ~

For fencing I was thinking black chain link. Looks good from a distance I know. We had ordered some once and it was scratched up. Refused it and ordered again. Same thing came. We didn't buy it. But like I said from a distance it looks great. We were told to touch it up with spray paint. Which is doable. I believe they also make a vinyl covered chain link. I haven't checked that one yet. Black iron gates would be cool, but spendy. Just dreaming here, lol. We have a lot of dog kennel panelling here so for us the plain grey chainlink looks fine.
That is so mean that you have to wait yet. I would be bursting! But so happy for you and will enjoy hearing about all the upcoming events for you.

We have used treated 4x4" and cattle panel for a mixed media look, and it's very strong, as well. It'll run you about $35 for all of the materials per 16' section, though, if you install it- obviously more if someone else does. It's pretty easy to do, and doesn't obscure the view at all. We originally used pipe brackets to install it to 4x4" posts set in concrete, and used a table saw to make a groove down the center of the 2 x 4" which set on top and bottom of the cattle-panel. For later additions, we decided the cattle panel ought to be cut into 2 sections, and we didn't frame it in at all, just mounting it with pipe brackets. SUPER easy. Disappears into the scenery when you plant vies on it, because the openings are larger, even though the gauge is heavier.

Escrow did not close today.

If it doesn't close tomorrow, I cannot get the keys on Saturday ... or Sunday.... or until we hear it closed, if it does, on Monday.

However, my agent said it would be okay to schedule utilities to change over to my name or be installed as long as it's either May 24th or later. So I busied myself making a list of all my regular days off until the end of the year (so I could keep those dates handy for the many kinds of appointments I'll have to make in the coming months) and then I had the electricity changed over to my name effective Tuesday, May 24th.

After that, I scheduled telephone service AND DirecTv installation for Monday, June 6th. Because I'm keeping my current service "live" until I'm really all moved in, that made me a "new" customer for DirecTv and I got a whole bunch of new customer incentives! Woo hoo! Then I just arrange for the old service to be disconnected and send back the receivers when I am out of my current house.

It almost made up for not being able to take tomorrow off and go get my keys. I've still got my fingers crossed for escrow closing tomorrow... which we wouldn't learn about until later in the day. So I'm working. But I took Tuesday off....

Again not today? Okay, apparently you need a southern "lady" to come there and get a little *ut hum* impatient with them.

You'll pick me up at the airport right?

Well, I have a new phone number for the house I don't own yet!. Phone company will turn it on June 6th, but has already assigned the number and told me what it is.

Even though I'm going to transmogrify the "garage" into a really big coop, I got a rough, telephone quote for moving my four largest coops. (This includes the not quite completed 8x8 coop Farmer Lew built.). The quote is for just about what it has cost me to have the 8x8 coop built... So it's gonna follow me to the new house, along with many of the others. More space for 'em at the new place, too.

I was really bummed when the title company told me escrow would not close today, because the deed has not been received from the seller, yet. That means I cannot move anything in this weekend; cannot get keys until the title has been recorded in my name.

If I sound repetitive, it's because I am only slightly insane at this point.

(Need a smiley with googly eyes.)

You can't ask the seller for the keys, so you can start moving in this weekend?

I have a co-worker who invests in properties and she let buyer have keys on Tuesday even though the actual closing wasn't until today or Monday.

I had a similar thing happen when I bought my house. Everything was done, signed, escrow, money changed hands etc., on Thursday morning. I was planning on starting the move that weekend. Then I found out I wouldn't get the keys till it was recorded in Chicago, probably the following Mon or Tues. I was very disappointed and asked the sellers agent if it was possible to get the keys to move in boxes. She responded that, "It would be possible to arrange for me to rent the house for the weekend."

I said thanks but no thanks.
As luck would have it it got recorded in record time. Friday afternoon, my agent called and said it had been recorded, the house was mine. I called the other agent and she said that she couldn't give me the keys because she was leaving town for the weekend.
I very calmly said. "Since you are denying my access to my house, I'm sure we can work out something for you to rent the house from me, for the weekend."
After a very very long pause, she spit out the words" you can pick up the keys from the secretary at the office."

Imp- I started moving that night.

No real advice- just keep in mind anticipation is good too.

It always amazes me the way this process works. The agents and the title company make good money off the transaction. They must get paid before it closes because otherwise you think they would be in a little bit bigger hurry to get things moving so they could get paid!!! Sorry bout your luck. Hope you get to move in soon!!

Wish that were so. The keys are in the lock-box.... The seller - with the deed- is the asset office for the Bank of America, in Texas. My agent cannot legally give me the keys until it records, and the deed had not yet arrived. I guess I respect that. My agent, the listing agent, and the title company are all up in arms, ticked off to no end about it on my behalf.

I am trying not to be childish about it. <*kicking curb*>
