That tree is massive! I can not believe how TALL those things can get! With our sweet gum ball tree and soft silver maple, our tree guy wanted $800 EACH tree to be cut down.

Lately I have been seeing tree statues of eagles and bears where the tree once stood. They would carve out that tree and make wonderful things out of it. But not giong to do that with our trees because I do not want the chance of getting some "offshoots" making the stump look like a bush.

I was at Linda's place yesterday (toodled up there on my cool-as-a-teenie-bopper-but-in-my-late-40s-having-a-midlife-crisis pink scooter LOL), and we were watching the tree workmen do their magic. It was so amazing to watch. That guy up there was just a-wieldin' that chain saw like he was passing a hot knife through soft butter. He made it look easy, but it was still scary. One of the nice things was that fantastic clean, fresh-cut ponderosa pine smell that was just permeating the air as cut after cut was made into the wood. It was extremely pleasant, and Linda was kind enough to bring me a chunk of resin from the tree when she came back over to our place for supper later in the evening. It smells really nice.

I feel honored to be Linda's friend and to see someone so wonderful and amazing and deserving go through this process. This place has SO much potential, and Linda is fulfilling that potential. It suits her *so* well, I cannot even tell you. It's also a lot of fun being part of this process.

I can't wait for the fence to be up. It looks like it's gonna be really neat.

Today is fence post day and propane tank day. D Fence Man thinks Thursday will be the day I review the work and pay the balance, and the fellow from the propane company is a bit tweaked about his service order which didn't include the drawing Ihad to submit to the county planning department. So he looked at the copy in the building permit and made some phone calls. The sales guy appears to have been a bit less informative than the guys need to do the work.

Ah, well, can't expect everything to go as planned. He's under the house as I type this, making various banging sounds which set Zorro and Dooley off into barking.

The fence is going in very well, even with my last-minute request for a different line in front. I want it on top of the first terrace, so there's parking on the street, the fence is higher that way, AND I have good soil in which to plant climbing roses and honeysuckle on the outside of the fence. (that way, the chickens can't get to them as the plants grow.)

Pictures later of these processes, I promise.

Yes, I had to do that. Could NOT help it. Hehehehehehehehe.

Today was a busy day, with the fence started and the propane tank and piping work completed.

Here's D Fence Man, Dale. (He thinks it's funny the end of one of the words in the name of the street on which I live is "Dale.")

The first propane guy arrived around 11:30 a.m., and before the day was over, there were THREE trucks in my driveway and three guys working on the project.

The propane tank - which I purchased, not leased - arriving on the truck.

Piping under the house - the biggest guy was in the crawl space!

Tomorrow, the inspector comes ("between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.") to review/inspect and hopefully approve the propane work. The oven range will be delivered Saturday, July 2, and the propane company will come back after the 5th to hook it up for me. (The "gas fireplace" was hooked up before they left.... like I need it this time of year, right? Ah well... it's all part of my getting the house ready process.)

One of the guys commented on this sticker on one of the windows of my car. I told him it's the absolute truth.

My Travelocity Gnome is very happy on the property.
