~ Retired and Starting My Future In The Foothills ~

And, Kansaseq, I'm gonna look for the little Flip Camera that takes videos, see if I can manage to utilize it properly. I may have to find something more suited to get GOOD "movies" to post.

Thank you ; I can't wait!!

And congratulations on your retirement. I'd be excited, too

Congratulations! I'm so happy for you! You have truly found your little bit of heaven and surrounded yourself with a just interesting enough neighborhood to keep you entertained or for you to entertain!

Congrats on the retirement. I am busier now that I am retired than I ever was while I was working. There is always something that needs doing, fixing, or cuddling at Camolot Farms. More time with your furry and feathered family. Enjoy, but remember to take care of yourself. Fibro sneaks up on me when I over do.

Looky! Looky! I have an early chick from the Easter Hatch!

John and I had cleaned up the yard A LOT and gone on a dump run with all the bags o' trash and other stuff. Before I left, I had no pips, no zips, but had definitely heard a very annoyed cheep from one of the incubators. Somebody inside an egg wanted out and was very frustrated. I bet it was this chick. It hatched in the incubator with the most eggs and is now skootching around over the tops of the eggs.

Congrats on the early bird!!! I really miss hatching; I wish I was not such a rooster magnet.
As am I. The NYD Hatch had plenty of them in it. I see those little cockerels running around and just sigh. They're going to have good lives until they're six months old - or begin to crow - and then they'll go to HHandbasket and Farmer Lew's Freezer Camp. There, they'll have a really GOOD life with more protein and no "dangerous" free-ranging. (The Freezer Camp is covered.) And then they'll nourish us.

I'm keeping my resident rooster quotient low, with just the current five.

However, there was a higher ratio of hens to roosters in that NYD batch, so I get to keep more of 'em than in the past. Let's hope this hatch doesn't have my usual surfeit of roosters in it.

I got lucky and found a guy at work who is from the Phillipines and buys all our roos for $5 each. But still!!!! We need hens to keep up with egg orders!
