My hen had a terrible bought of EYP. She has made a full recovery except for a return to laying. Right now, she is finishing up a moult ( which I was hoping would last until the Fall or even next Spring). Unfortunately, her comb is getting Fuller and she is starting to do the submissive stance whenever I pick her up. I'm afraid she is about to start laying again.

Is it possible that she will laying normally again? Or will she only internally lay from here on out?

Did you treat her with an oral antibiotic?

Unfortunately, unless a reproductive infection is caught very early and treated, there isn't very good odds on a hen with EYP laying again. However, nothing is impossible. That she will lay internally is a very big risk.

Be prepared for things not to end well. But, don't give up hope.

She was treated with Baytril. According to the vet, the inflammation and egg yolk naturally drained out of her body. Her weight has returned and is behaving like she did before this all started. The internal laying was going on for about a month before treatment.

I was really hoping that she would stop laying for at least a few more months. She seems to have bounced back in a little over a month and her body wants to give this egg laying thing another go. Sigh.
