I found a goose egg that was in the water beside a nest on top some rocks. I took it home and took care of it for 4 days. It was getting really big and close to hatching (I candled it), but I realized I can't take care of this egg forever or gosling. So I go back to the nest today and the mom and dad were gone... too bad I didn't have my egg, I kept it at home because I wanted to keep it warm. But!! I found another egg in the water beside the nest. So I pick it up and I hear mom and dad fly back really fast to protect their nest. I had to lightly throw the egg I found in the water back to the nest.

After that I decided to go home and get my egg. I called the wildlife bird rehabilitation centre and they told me to take a blanket to scare the geese away so I can put back the egg. So I get some blankets and go back there. But instead I go to a different nest that's much easier to get too. I didn't find this egg at this nest... but the rehab centre said they wouldn't notice if it was there egg or not... Anyways I wave the blanket around and the geese move away (thinking to myself omg it working!!!) I put my egg back and the mom and dad start staring at it... sooo funny!! but mom sat down after 5 minutes and didn't care it wasn't her egg :)

I have 3 questions,

-Why am I finding goose eggs in the water, and is there anyway they can live naturally without a human taking it out of the water?
-Why didn't the mom or dad from the first nest on the rock by the water realize I was trying to give back their egg that fell in the water?
-Why didn't the mom or dad from the second nest not notice this egg was not theirs?

No, the egg/baby would not have made it.. it would have got to cold and if the baby did manage to break the shell it would have got water inside and drowned the baby.
-Why didn't the mom or dad from the first nest on the rock by the water realize I was trying to give back their egg that fell in the water? They see anything besides each other as predators, even other geese.

Geese dont not see the same way we do. It was an egg same basic shape and size so they were ok with it. They do the same with babies. They can not count.
