revamping....help please

I suggest that once you have built your nest boxes that you construct the frame work in the area that you are going to place the nest boxes.Place a frame on the front of the boxes so that when you slide the boxes in the opening that the frame on the box goes up to the frame work.Back to the frame. You want to construct the frame so that it is sturdy enough to hold your boxes, chickens and not allow your wall to give.Cut 2 boards the length between 2 studs that are in the wall. Then cut 2 boards the length of the height of the sides of the boxes.Nail or screw the pieces together and place in the wall.Attach the frame work in the wall and the cut out the hole in the wall and then attach the wall to the frame work.I would use screws but nails will do fine.Slide the box in the hole through the wall and run it all the way in.I would then attach the front to the frame work and then attach around the inside of the box.You will more and likely have to take out at least one stud.I would take it out until you have placed the frame in the wall. Then cut it so that it fits between the top of the frame to where it was attached at the top of the wall.I know that this sounds somewhat confusing, but it isn't that hard.

Trooper,
Do you mean frame it out like a window in a house? I had planned to put bracing under it for support.

That is what I was thinking. When you do it like this and put in proper bracing it does an excellent job and you feel good that it is done the best that you know how.

Thanks,
I'm drawing up plans now and working up my lumber order (need tax returns for funds). I will definitely use you idea.

OK plans have been drawn up like three times and totally scrapped.I can, for the almost same cash, enlarge the whole building from 4x8 to 6x12 as building my attached nest boxes. So I'm starting over with the plans, after I take some aspirin for my math headache.lol

When I built my coop: the graph paper that I set in front of me to draw up the plans just about was the end of the whole project. LOL. That was so hard! I'm glad I kept trudging on. I totally remember that Math headache you are talking about...ugh. You can do it though.
