Review of this cool style.

I'm leaning towards making a raised coupe two or 3 feet off the ground but with a walk in run attached. The part underneath the coop May or may not be fenced in and made part of the run. And I'm thinking at least part of the run will be covered.
I could make the coop as long as I wanted as long as it's only about 4 feet deep I would be able to reach in. And poop board and to roost up higher will let the chickens have the entire floor space of the coop for bad weather if they wanted. Now I'm just going to look for a picture of what I am thinking of. I'm thinking this design would be the best for my situation.

I agree that walk in is better. In those smaller, shorter coops there just is not enough room to allow roosting and ventilation that does not impact them while they are on the roost. You could build a shed style for about the same amount of money. That coop looks to be 4 x 8? That will house 8 birds, max. I'd suggest that you build a shed coop as a walk in, you could have a clean out door on the back. Then, if you needed to expand in the future, you could easily turn that shed into a "woods" style by knocking out the front wall, and putting on the front "sun room". Or just go the whole 9 yards, and make it 8 x 8 woods style to start with. Give yourself room for a little broody pen in there!

4 feet can't really be reached with both hands(to grab a chicken) and to reach the back you'd have to put one hand down.
I have some wire crates 3 feet deep, kept some chicks in there and couldn't reach them in the back, it was a PITA.
Mock it up with some cardboard and see how it feels.

I like the woods style coop but I don't have space for it and the directions winds blow around here I couldn't set it up correctly. I might try a slanted roof so that there is openings on three sides at least 18 inches above the roosts. There would be windows down lower that could be opened or closed. That would let a lot of light in without a breeze blowing on them. The back side of the coop will be up against the garage. So basically it's not going to look anything like the one I started this thread with. I was looking for peoples opinions on that one. I can't seem to find plans for exactly what I want so I think it will be a hodgepodge of a few things. Thank God I'm not going to put lights or heat in this thing! There's too many things to think about as there is. I appreciate everybody's input.
