After months of waiting patiently...
the babies I brought home last March are all four laying! The Columbian Wyandotte Sisters, Betsey and Mabel rewarded me in early August with their first eggs. I thought the Speckled Sussex Sisters, Stella and Emmadine, would follow suit soon. I watched for their combs to turn pink, waited patiently for the "chicken squat", listened earnestly for their lovely chicken chorus of "bawk bawk bawk B-GAWK" and nothing.
Today, finally, almost a MONTH after their South-American Sisters came 'round, those beautiful British chicks made some pretty pinkish eggs for me! Today we got 4 for 4 - or in baseball terms - batting 1000! I promptly rewarded the girls with their favorite treat - 1/2 a cantaloupe - guts, seeds full flesh and all. I love my girls!
