Rewinning flock trust?

Well, considering his size, and theirs when they are fully grown, their about 3/4ths grown now. I suspect he'll have to up his game... a lot! They're big enough that if they don't feel like squatting, I doubt he'll be able to do much about it! ;)

Oh... he will find a way. Otherwise there would be no chickens. ;)

Up dating the flock trust problem, with the JG's gone the girls are starting to trust me again, I've been using all your very good suggestions. Today one of my little Australorps escaped the run and promptly dunked herself in the creek. When I came out to gather the eggs and counted beaks. One missing! I started calling with my treat call and she responded! From down in the brush on the bank of the creek came the most pathetic little cluck and mumble you ever heard. I sprained an ankle and dunked myself in the creek getting to her but she sat still and didn't panic and was very snuggly and happy to see me when I finally pulled the little wet bird out of the water. A quick bath in fresh water and she started making very determined calls to get to the rest of the flock. As it's very warm out now I turned her out into the grassy run and she immediately raced to the nest boxes and laid an egg. :D She seems none the worse for the adventure and was quite happy to see me later when I came to lock up the hens.

It’s so lovely when our little charges need us! Kids or chickens.

Mine go outside the run once or twice a day now. They’ve discovered the edge of the woods, where they have thick cover and mulchy, composty ground to scratch to their heart’s content. But they have to cross the open lawn to get back to the coop. So they need me! I come out with my scratch can, call them and encourage them, and when they get their act together they race over and come back to the coop. They haven’t yet come back without “help.” It’s funny and sweet.
