Rhode Island Red and Barred Rock 1 year old and never laid eggs

I would be patient and wait it out (yes, it is hard, I know it!). It is rare for a chicken to not produce an egg; for two chooks to never produce an egg really is against the odds. Not impossible, but rare!

Garden Gal~ I will post pictures of them. When I go to pick them up they do squat down. They are a beautiful color. And I have two hens, so I would think that cock activity might be happening if they weren't hens. I purchased them from a legitimate feed store when they were a couple of days old. I purchased 4 chicks each a different breed. One died after a couple of days, and one turned out to be a beautiful rooster. He is gone now because of where we live. So I know for sure their age.

galanie~They are the only hens we have. Just two!

Mum~I know I have been waiting. I truly can't believe it really. We have lots of animals with great success and over many years. First time I have had chickens, but I know alot about other types of birds (parrots, finches, etc.) And our animals live forever. So I do have a lot of experience with animal care.

Wishing you productive hens asap

I hope you get eggs soon, that's the most fun part of it all. The rundown:
1)hidden nest
2)eating eggs
3)varmits(rats,snakes)
4)Transvestites!
