Obviously if I’m asking this question it’s not crowing the alpha hen has his repeatedly put it in its place also makes me suspect it’s not a rooster but it’s actually being fairly aggressive it pecks at me when I try to move the food bowl? It hasn’t laid an egg yet either. Your thoughts?

Maybe you use him to breed. Are you allowed to have roosters in your area?
The Roos I intended to keep were Black Bresse in the crate with "Him", which are two weeks younger and already crowing or failing to crow in the second case .............. Not A peep from "Red". I have 4 gold sex links so breeding could work, but I'd still end up with roos I have no desire to waste feed on or wait 16 weeks to "Make Weight".

How old is "he" cockerels start crowing from 6 to 8 weeks old. If "he's" older than that "he's" just taking his time or you've just haven't heard him.

13 weeks+ The Bresse and the Austrolorp roos I have sound very different, I can tell who is crowing even with the no-crow collars. at 13 weeks if it is not crowing I think it is due to "pecking order". The Bresse roo seems to crow pecking order be damned.
