My 4 1/2 old RI Red didn't return to coop tonight so I went out to look for her. Found her in a bush with 15 eggs. 15 eggs at 4 1/2 months.

Whoa! Were they all hers? If so you could breed her and sell her chicks as the best layers out there!

I believe they are all hers because she is the only one who flies over the fence to leave the chicken area. This bush was outside the area near my garage..... so unless she is steeling others eggs, and flying with them, I'd have to say I think they are all hers. ITs just so surprising. I mean for one she is only 4 1/2 months old... typically they start with an egg hear and there and then build up. But for her to just start laying.... and have 15. That means that at 4 months she just started laying an egg every day. And went broody laying her very first egg and non of the eggs have are fertile so she's sitting on duds. She was a complete chickzilla when i lifted her off those eggs. poor girl. she is going to be an egg factory.
