A picture might help. RIR's have big combs, hens and roosters; but if its conspicuously big at 6 wks you might have a roo.

Judging from the pic, I'd say it looks like a roo. But you should wait till it crows, or is trying to mount just to make sure.

Human boys go through puberty at different times...

So do chickens. But the general time frame is anywhere from 10 wks or up, though there are a lot of people who have had them crow before then.
