Rhode Island Red help

Hi all! First time with this breed so I have nothing to compare to. Of course…purchased as a female but we all know how accurate that is. Lol S/he is about 10 weeks old. Slightly larger than the other chicks of the same age but again, it’s the only RIR so I dunno. No crowing, no typical little roo behavior that I’ve noticed but those dark, longer tail feathers are making me nervous.

Yeah, I'm mean at 10 weeks, I'm also thinking pullet. I know some birds are slower to mature, but right now I'm just seeing a sweet girl with a high tail. But I've never owned the breed either, till this one chick.

They are truly beautiful birds. Mine are super friendly as well. that's a pretty high tail for a RIR hen.

The stance looks a bit cockerel-ish to me too, but we were just discussing high tails on another thread. I know Leghorns and Australorp hens can have some pretty high tails

RIR comb up pretty early but that tail is throwing me off. How many other roosters do you have?

High tails are pretty common. I also have an Australorp hen with a tail higher than her head.

Although, these colored neck feathers do bring up the possibility of a male. My girls don't have any greenish colored feathers on them.

I've got a dozen RIRs and I'd be making room in the freezer for that one. 99% sure he's a rooster.

The hen's tails are more squared off.
