males are generally mostlywhite & females mostly red. Thats the point of a sex link, to tell them apart at hatching.

If they are red sex link you can tell the sex from day 1. If they are a mixed breed there is no real standard to judge there gender. Red sex link males are white and the females are red with some white. But you will probably have to wait until they are fully feathered at about 8 weeks before you can really know what breed/gender they are. Good luck!
