Rhode Island Red? Or production?

Production Red , true Rhode Island reds are rare, find an APA approved show and go see the chickens there, then you will understand the difference between hatchery birds and show birds. By the way never met a chicken I didnt like ( well except that one brown leghorn rooster) so unless you want to show , the breed really dose not matter.

If you're going for show and breeding the "heritage" RIR is different from what "true heritage breeders" call "hatchery" RIR.

Old English bulldog s had certain features in their face and head. Breed has changed based on UKC standards changing over time.

My bird is what is called Rhode Island Red from a hatchery and considered I guess a mutt? Or not "show' quality. I love my hen Precious. I'm not raising chicks so for me it's of no consequence.

It does make for very interesting reading and understanding the history of the breed. Who know you may become a person that wants t show birds. If so there's a great thread on BYC about "true heritageas" RIR.

Have fun with them. I do. I've been all over this sight learning all I could. Ask me about dogs I might be able to help. Chickens eh not so much

Ok yeah that's interesting! It truly makes no difference what breeds they are I was just curious if they were mixed or not. I'll check all that out just for the fun of it. I've worked with animals for 18 years 11 years in animal rescue. I have never had or worked with chickens though so I'm just taking in all the information. Regardless what he is I think he's going to be beautiful as his green tail feathers come in more. Thanks
