How old here? Still looks like a pullet to me. Also, not sure what you're talking about with her beak. It looks normal to me.Updated pix. Also, is her beak supposed to look like this??
Generally better to make tour own postJumping on thread because I need help. Long story short, bought 7 bantams out of a bin. So far, 4 roos and (I thought) 3 pullets. But now I'm not so sure about the RIR bantam. Searched RIR pullets vs cockerels online and saw your post. Any ideas what I have? 6 weeks old. Tried to include tail feather shots. This was our bird that feathered out the fastest... but really muscular for a chick and ornery. Tiny comb until this past week. Wattles just emerged.
I have another post going but most of the respondents are Cochin people...this is my only RIR. There are a ton of dark red feathers just starting to emerge in the saddle area that are too new to tell if they're pointed or not. The fact that they're there though doesnt bode well as this was our fastest feathering chick. A sudden onset of dark saddle feathers at 6 weeks screams roo to me...wouldnt have looked for them if it weren't for those 2 hooked feathers in the tail :/Generally better to make tour own postI'm going to say cockerel. Its more the saddle feathers than the tail feathers you want to focus on
Yeah...I know those feathers all too well. Just stuck judging without them since I need to rehome boys stat and might have a taker on a few and need to decide which go first. Can you get an aerial shot of rump area including tail? My birds' is very narrow...pullets are usually wider. Not home but I'll try to get more detailed pics later! Our RIR is about 12 weeks and the comb is still a bit yellow. Here is a pic re the feathers too if it helps.
