heather, What 99% of us have, who buy our chicks at hatcheries, feed stores and backyard breeders is a RIR that is far, far from true show type. Chris raises true, heritage show quality birds. Yes, they are very dark. The Red is supposed to be dark, not orange like many birds sold today.
The Red comes in a standard comb that everyone is used to, but Chris also has some rare birds in rose combs, I believe.
