I'm confused. We have a total of 6 chickens. 2 being RIRs. We have been getting 6 eggs and never gave it a second thought. Tonight we watched this one grab the back of another chicken and try to mount her. So now I'm confused. Theres no crowing either. First 3 pictures are of the RIR that was mounting the other. The 4rh picture is the other RIR. So are we mistaken and have a rooster?

How old is? Do you happen to have a pic of bird from the side without hands?

I have heard that hens can sometimes behave like roosters if there are no roosters in the flock. Someone told me that, but I have never experienced it as we have always had at least one rooster in our pen.
