Hi, My one-year-old RI Red chicken has had runny poop for several days now and has not been acting herself. She free-ranges around our farm during the day and is in a stall with two other hens at night. Up until today, she was still walking around with the other hens and scavenging most of the day as usual (with runny poop, however). Today she is not leaving her stall perch and I noticed her foot was raised and is hot to the touch and slightly swollen on the bottom. There does not seem to be a wound on it. I have a vet about an hour from me who treats chickens and I am planning on calling her tomorrow a.m. but I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with this set of symptoms. Thanks!!!

Well honestly it could be anything.

We really need more information from you both, please, to answer more accurately.

There's a post (second one in this section, stickied) that gives a basic set of questions to answer to help us help you. Please answer those here.

Also, can you tell us whether or not the birds are in a worming program (yearly, twice a year, ever)? Have you been experiencing a lot of rain lately? Are the entire droppings runny - or are there solids and then runny clear, or white? Is it possible that by the time you see the droppings the clear watery part has absorbed into the solid making them appear runny?
