I entered chickens for the first time at our state fair for week one, and got second places. I entered Scooter, my Silver Grey Dorking cockeral (12 wks) and my 3 BBS Orpingtons (12 wks) in the production class. Not bad for youngsters. (they were the youngest entries so I hope this bodes well for what they'll do next year as adults). Lots of nice comments on them.

I took the Silkies tonight (fingers crossed) for week two.

I entered the three I got from Bobbi, a black cockeral (7 mos), a Splash cockeral (6 mos), a Blue hen (14 mos), and my Blue pullet (4 mos). Only 5 other Silkies were there when we dropped off my birds. All but the one are 4.5 mos old. I'll check for ribbons tomorrow night when I enter some baked goods.
Can Silkies have any other type of comb except Walnut?? The other black cockeral has the most bizarre looking comb. I don't even know how todescribe it. I'll have to get a pic.

DQ? I'm thinking Dairy Queen and an now wanting Ice cream. ..lol

Disqualified?

That's what I always think about at first too. Then I'm like "Duh! Disqualification! How long have I been in 4-H, again?" But the damage has been done, and I'm left raiding the freezer for ice cream.
