Rice Bran vs Wheat Bran for Mealworms?

I'm new to raising mealworms and noticed my new colony seems lethargic and I've had quite a few dead ones. I followed instructions from several websites and most recommended wheat bran. I had about 40 lbs of rice bran leftover from last deer season so I used that instead. My mealworms seem lethargic and I had a few dozen die. Is rice bran bad for them?

I have raised mealworms in several types of environment. I find they actually do best in uncooked oatmeal. Just buy a bag/container of oats and put them in that. They will reproduce faster and live longer in that.
