Crossing the Road
I free range my birds, so I'm already giving up a tremendous amount of dietary control. Adding "treats" is just one variable too many for my comfort, particularly as I feed less than recommended weight of feed, and adjust based on flock behaviors. I mean, sure, they get kitchen scraps - but the peel of two carrots and the white of a pair of celery stalks, spread over almost 70 birds???? Most of them spend more energy running over to find out what's up (and miss out anyways)...
