So I found a bag of rice completely infested with rice weevils. Stated picking up several of them, put them in a plate and served them to my quails. They absolutely went nuts and finished them in matter of minutes.

Has anyone else done this? I now feel tempted to always keep an aitight container with rice left to go bad with weevils and have my own little “weevil farm”.

so... no one? am I in unchartered territory here?

Sorry, I've never seen a weevil. We have mostly just crickets and scorpions around here... The quail enjoy the crickets, but I try to keep the scorpions away. I don't think they could survive a scorpion sting. It terrified me when there was one in the kitchen with Pedro. I am very glad she didn't see it. 😌

They are little beetle-like insects that feed on grains - so its a pest infecting rice and others (if you have a bag of rice and let it sit for months, it will probably grow some).

Thing is, they attacked a complete bag of my paella rice, so I took like 30-40 of the little bastards, put them on a plate and enjoyed vengeance as my 3 quails feasted on them. I now have put the rice with weevil in a separate container, starting my own "weevil farm", and was wondering if this was a bad idea in the forum.

Sounds like a great idea to me! Basically a mealworm farm on a smaller level. Best of luck!
