Ridley bronze turkeys / Bronze breasted turkeys

hey there i was wondering if any one had any suggestions they could share with me. I bought ten turkey polts and i read up on them about this disease that free range chickens can carry called blackhead? and i have 50 free range chickens. is there any kind of preventative medication or any thing i can put in the chickens water to cure them just incase they have this "blackhead" disease?

If you go to "Other Backyard Poultry" above, you will find threads on turkeys. It would be the best place to ask questions or seek advice. I would think all the chickens free ranging would have contaminated the ground IF they carried Black head disease. Would you know if there have been any outbreaks at farms in your area?

But they stat that the Histostat 50 is toxic to ducks and geese. No mention of effect on chickens. But all sources warn not to allow turkeys in areas ranged by chickens for 3 years after the chickens have been there.

It seems you will need to make the decision to separate or take your chances?

Do post the question under the turkeys forum and likely you will get experienced mixed poultry owners opinions.
