Right now I'm listening to "Sweet Home Alabama" on Pandora

Me too! It gets in your blood and you can't leave it...well, you can, but there's nothing like it anywhere else in the world and it'll draw you back to it once you've loved it!!

EXACTLY!!!! No one understands this vast brown place, til they see it in the spring time. Til they see it in winter.... Til they know the history!

Yep! Many see it as a barren environment but it's teaming with activity & such abundant life, unique life. Snow on the cactus, hail storms in July, heat waves in winter, the smell of the desert after rain, saguaros that bloom 1 day in all their glory, the animals...oh don't let us even get started!

One of my favorite songs is Centerfield by John Fogerty that reminds me of my oldest niece. I was like 13ish and she was 6-7 and her dad always played this song and she new it word for word. She loved it and I loved watching her sing and dance. Her dad is my uncle. He passed away several years back.

I love (usually) how certain songs can bring back freeze-frame moments in our histories. I'm really sorry about your uncle. It sounds like you have some very warm memories of your teen time with them. My dad passed away on christmas eve when I was 5 years old...I still cannot have a tree in my yard that loses its leaves in winter...I keep the good memories close and let the others fly away free.

Speaking of flashbacks...Up around the bend/CCR is playing right now. My BIL & I used to do this song and lots of others all the time together...at family gatherings (Lordy, the blues we ALL would sing or play, lol)...camping, vacations... He passed away very young. Wonderful memories of our family times together laughing and singing.

So sorry for your losses Dewey. Christmas would def. be a hard one and a parent at that.

A lot of music brings back memories for me. I like it actually. Very easy to get caught up in the here and now and forget some of those precious moments, times, and people associated with the music/memories it brings back.

How about Karma Chameleon--by Boy George? I love this song and the ones you mentioned. Reminds me of the time when I listened to those songs you mentioned when I was pre teens.

Excellent! I need to make a station for that.

I've been missing my CD's of beach, rain forest, and ocean sounds. Also love native american flute and have misplaced all those CD's.
