So are you planning on raising them in the 10' x 10' just as a brooder until they are big enough to go outside? or will that be the entire space until released at 16/18 weeks?

the 10x10 would just be brooder for the frist 8 to 10 weeks, after that in to a outdoor pen 30x20 to 16 to 18 weeks, after 200 acre farm/woodland. What is youngst they can be released?

My opinion would be they need more room, the younger they are released the higher percentage of mortality.

Just wanted to say great pics Randy! My rooster I have right now looks like the cockbird in the second pic under "Green ringnecks." But mine has a very distinct white ring. And all my hens look like your green/melanistic hen.

do you mean for the pen? how many would be good in a 600sqft pen maybe I should reduce the #of chicks . Thank you for all your help

Just a little caveat'--- Check your local wildlife regulations before you release anything! This may be a harmless crime that results in you getting into a large hastle. Some states prohibit release of these, or may require special permitting/ permission.

Also if your raising for release you'd want to raise in a very large flight pen with extremely limited human contact for best results as a huntable gamebird after release.

I have a jumbo Ringneck that has two separate tails (one on the right and one on the left) ever seen that?
What do you think......?
Picture tomorrow.
Mike
